Payment Policy
1. Simple, Direct User-to-User Payments
Karmup operates a decentralized, direct payment model. We believe payments for everyday assistance should be simple, transparent, and settled directly between the person receiving help and the person providing help.
For People Who Need Help
- You agree the task price with your helper before work starts.
- When the task is completed, you pay the helper directly using a method they accept, such as UPI, QR code, or cash.
- Karmup does not add a markup or extra charge to the price agreed with your helper.
For People Offering Help
- You choose how you receive payment: direct UPI, personal QR code, or cash in hand.
- You receive 100% of the agreed amount directly from the requester.
- Karmup operates a transparent 4.5% platform fee model; you keep 95.5% of your earnings with zero upfront charges.
2. Transparent 4.5% Platform Fee & ₹45 Dues Model
Karmup operates a fair, transparent, and low 4.5% platform fee model. Unlike conventional platforms that charge 20% to 30%, Karmup lets helpers keep 95.5% of their task earnings.
Direct Payment & ₹45 Dues Threshold
- Direct 100% Peer Payment: Requesters pay 100% of the agreed amount directly to the helper upon task completion via UPI, QR code, or cash.
- Zero Upfront Cost: There is zero upfront cost, no joining fee, and no prepaid balance required to start helping.
- 4.5% Platform Fee Accrual: On each completed task, a flat 4.5% platform fee accrues in the helper’s background account balance.
- ₹45 Dues Threshold (After Earning ₹1,000): A helper only settles platform dues once accrued dues reach ₹45 (which occurs after earning ₹1,000 in completed tasks). Until reaching ₹45, helpers accept tasks freely.
- Simple Dues Clearance: Upon reaching ₹45 in dues, helpers simply clear the ₹45 fee via UPI / secure gateway to unlock new task acceptance. Ongoing tasks, chat, and support are never blocked.
3. What Karmup Does and Does Not Do
- No Payment Holding: Karmup does not hold task payments in intermediary accounts, wallets, or holding balances.
- No Transfer of Task Money: Payment for tasks passes directly from the requester to the helper without routing through Karmup accounts.
- Direct Settlement: Requesters and helpers agree the price in the app and settle directly using payment methods accepted by the helper.
- Non-Custodial Role: Because Karmup does not hold task payments, Karmup cannot process financial refunds or reverse user-to-user transfers.
4. Fee Adjustments & Advance Notice Policy
Karmup will provide users with clear advance notice (at least 15 to 30 days prior) before introducing any adjustments to platform fee rates or dues thresholds.
No fee adjustment will ever be applied retroactively, and fee schedules will remain fully transparent prior to accepting or posting tasks.
5. Direct Payment Disputes & Precautions
Users should settle payments according to agreed task terms only after work is completed satisfactorily. We advise users to avoid advance payments unless they independently choose to do so and accept the associated risk.
If a dispute arises regarding task fulfillment, users may submit reports through Karmup moderation. While Karmup does not hold task funds or provide financial reimbursements, we investigate reports and take platform actions, including issuing formal warnings, adjusting trust scores, or suspending accounts found in violation of our guidelines.
