How Karmup Works
A simple, transparent loop connecting people who need assistance with people ready to help.
Post what you need help with
Describe your task, location details, preferred timing, and any specific requirements. It can be an errand, physical help, digital task, or everyday chore.
Smart matching with nearby helpers
Karmup understands your intent and matches your request with nearby helpers based on skill, location radius, availability, and community trust signals.
Coordinate in-app & agree on terms
Communicate safely via in-app chat. Agree on the task scope, timing, and direct price beforehand. Approximate location is shown; exact address is only shared once accepted.
Task completion & direct payment
The helper completes the assistance. You pay the helper directly using their accepted payment method (UPI, QR, or cash). Karmup does not hold task money.
Mutual ratings & reviews
Both requester and helper leave honest feedback and ratings to build genuine trust across the neighbourhood community.
Free early launch model
Karmup is free to use during early launch: zero fees are charged to requesters or helpers. Karmup may introduce fees in the future and will provide advance notice before any fee applies.
Two Ways to Use Karmup
I Need Help (Requester)
Post a task without awkwardness. Choose your helper, agree on terms directly, and pay them directly upon completion via UPI, QR, or cash.
How to find helpI Can Help (Helper)
Turn your free time, skills, and energy into valuable community help. Receive direct payments from requesters with zero launch fees.
How to become a helperMulti-Person Tasks & Spot Tracking
When a task requires more than one person (such as shifting furniture, event coordination, or group volunteering), Karmup provides real-time spot tracking:
- Spot Display: The requester sets how many people are needed; the task displays "X of N spots left" as helpers join.
- Per-Person Reward: Reward is shown per person. Requesters can enter a total or per-person amount; total budgets are divided by headcount and rounded up to the nearest rupee.
- Minimum Headcount & Options: A minimum headcount to start can be configured. If fewer helpers accept by the start time, the requester can proceed with available helpers, reduce headcount, or cancel.
- Independent Tracking & Group Chat: Each helper is tracked independently. If a helper drops out, their spot reopens immediately. Accepted participants get an in-app task group chat.
Pre-Acceptance Consequence Notice & No-Show Rule
Before accepting any task, every helper sees a clear consequence prompt: "What if I don't do this task after accepting it?" and must confirm their commitment. Karmup securely stores the acknowledgement timestamp and policy version.
No-Show Rule: Accepting a task is a firm commitment to show up within the agreed grace period. Failing to start or cancelling right before start time without a valid reason counts as a no-show, leading to a warning or account review as outlined in our Community Guidelines.
Gender Preference Matching
For domestic or personal assistance tasks, requesters can select Any, Women, or Men as a preference. Helpers self-declare their gender privately (Woman, Man, Other, Prefer not to say), which is used solely for matching.
Important Note: Karmup does not verify gender; this preference is based solely on what users self-declare and is not a guarantee.
